Privacy policy
Last updated: September 28, 2026
This policy explains what personal information Selv Rituel collects on selvrituel.com, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it and how to exercise your rights. It applies to the online store, our forms and our communications.
1. Who is responsible for your information
Les Bains Selv Rituel inc. (Selv Rituel), 4710 Saint-Ambroise Street, Montréal, Quebec H4C 2C7, Canada.
Person in charge of the protection of personal information: the company’s President. Contact: info@selv.ca (subject line “Personal information”), 514-701-7630, or by mail at the address above.
2. The information we collect and why
We only collect what we need for the purposes listed below.
- When you place an order: name, billing and shipping addresses, email, phone number, products purchased and order history. Purposes: process and deliver your order, bill you, contact you about your order, handle returns and warranty claims, prevent fraud and meet our tax and accounting obligations. Payments are processed by Shopify Payments and our other payment providers: we never see your full card number.
- When you create a customer account: name, email and preferences. Purpose: let you track your orders and check out faster.
- When you subscribe to our emails: your email address. Purpose: send you our news, finds and offers. We only do so with your consent, and every email includes an unsubscribe link.
- When you request our printed letter: name, email and mailing address. Purpose: mail you the printed letter.
- When you write to us: name, email, phone number if you provide it, and your message. Purpose: reply and follow up.
- When you post a review: the name you choose to display, your review and your email. Purposes: publish your review on the site, quote it in our communications and confirm that it follows a purchase.
- When you browse the site: technical data (IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, where your visit came from), collected with cookies and similar technologies described in section 3.
3. Cookies and tracking technologies
A cookie is a small file stored in your browser. We use four categories:
- Essential: they run the cart, checkout, security and spam protection (hCaptcha). They are always on.
- Personalization: they remember some of your actions to personalize your next visit.
- Analytics: they help us understand how the site is used (Shopify analytics).
- Advertising and marketing: the Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Pinterest and Google pixels measure how well our ads perform and may be used to show you ads based on your interests, which is profiling. Some store apps also measure how their features are used.
In Quebec, the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, personalization, analytics and advertising cookies are off by default. They are only turned on if you accept them in the banner shown on your first visit. You can change your mind at any time with the “Cookie preferences” link at the bottom of every page.
Elsewhere, these tools may be active when you arrive. You can refuse them through your browser settings (blocking or deleting cookies) or in the ad settings of Meta and Google.
4. Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal information. We only share it with the service providers that help us run the store, and only what they need:
- Shopify, which hosts the store and processes payments;
- our carriers (mainly GLS), to deliver your orders;
- our email service providers, for our newsletters and order messages;
- Judge.me, to manage customer reviews;
- Meta, Pinterest and Google, to measure and deliver our ads, if you have consented where consent is required;
- authorities, when the law requires it.
These providers must protect your information and use it only for the intended purposes.
5. Information stored outside Quebec
Several of our providers store information elsewhere in Canada, in the United States or in Europe. Before entrusting them with personal information, we assess, as Quebec law requires, whether it will receive adequate protection there, and we put a written agreement in place.
6. How long we keep it
- Orders: as long as needed for warranty and customer service, and for the period required by tax and accounting laws.
- Newsletter subscription: until you unsubscribe.
- Messages: as long as needed to reply and follow up.
- Cookies: until they expire or you delete them from your browser.
After that, we destroy the information or anonymize it.
7. Your rights
At any time, you can:
- ask to access the information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, incomplete or ambiguous;
- withdraw your consent, for example by unsubscribing from our emails or refusing advertising cookies;
- receive the information you gave us in a structured, commonly used technological format, or ask that it be sent to another organization;
- ask us to stop disseminating information about you or to de-index a hyperlink leading to it, in the cases provided by law.
Write to us at info@selv.ca. We reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.
8. Residents of the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom
We process your information on the following bases: performing your order (contract), your consent (newsletters, non-essential cookies), our legitimate interest (security, fraud prevention, site improvement) and our legal obligations. In addition to the rights in section 7, you can ask us to erase your data, restrict its processing or object to its processing. Canada is covered by a European Commission adequacy decision for commercial organizations; for transfers to other countries, our providers apply the safeguards provided by the GDPR. You can also file a complaint with the data protection authority in your country.
9. Children
Our store is not intended for children under 14 and we do not knowingly collect their information.
10. Security and incidents
We limit access to your information to the people who need it and use providers that encrypt communications and payments. If a confidentiality incident presents a risk of serious injury, we notify the Commission d’accès à l’information and the people concerned, as the law requires.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top of the page shows the latest change. If we make a significant change, we announce it on the site.
